At Home Weight Loss

One of the safest and most reliable ways to lose weight at home is by altering your diet away from fat-producing carbohydrates and towards fruit. Many people find the only way to really lose weight and keep it off is to lose weight with fruit.

Why fruit?

Nature has a way of showing us the win/win if we are only open to the concept. From the fruit tree’s point of view, it wants to spread its seeds.

Its best bet is to make something animals (and us!) want to eat. So fruit is tasty. But not just this -- when fruit falls to the ground and isn’t carried away, the seeds are left mixed in with the fruit that is left. The remaining fruit adds nutrients to that little spot where the seeds will sprout.

When you lose weight with fruit, you tap into this goldmine -- the natural sugars and flavors that make fruit a pleasure to eat as well as the antioxidants and other nutrients. But there is even more to the story. Losing weight at home by adding fruit means you are also increasing your fiber intake, natural vitamin and bio-flavonoid intake, and increasing your metabolism.

Calorie shifting to lose weight at home

‘Calorie shifting’ means replacing those calories that do not add value with the same number of calories from sources that do. While an apple and a slice of bread have about a hundred calories, the apple is much more filling, takes longer to eat, gives more satisfaction and helps you lose weight.

The fiber in the apple, along with the antioxidants it contains, not only helps directly, but also indirectly by speeding up your metabolism. And this is just as true for other fruits used to lose weight at home as it is for the lowly apple.

There is one problem for many of us though. Although nature has designed fruits to be sweet, man has one-upped nature with processed sugar. It takes a week or more until you adapt to the new level of sweetness available naturally. Avoiding processed sugar will get you out of the habit and reset your tongue. You will gain a new ability to appreciate how wonderful natural sugars are. Honey can be used as a backup.

With calorie shifting, at home weight loss becomes a matter of having fruits and other good things around whenever you want something. Eating many small meals – grazing – is much better than our traditional (and, frankly unnatural) way of eating huge meals all at once.

Other benefits of losing weight with fruit

Besides the obvious benefits of losing unsightly and unnecessary pounds, calorie shifting toward fruits and away from fats and carbohydrates has overall health benefits.

Some of them are: a more robust immune system, a lowered risk for diabetes and heart attacks, lower blood pressure and an almost immediate increase in ‘pep’. It becomes one good added to another. Increasing your energy level leads to even more weight loss. This is sustainable weight loss too; not the on and off of crazy dieting.

With the modern availability of a great variety of fruits, there’s no excuse not to retrain your taste buds a little. Add a little excitement once in awhile with the more exotic offerings, and explore the menu. You will find that losing weight at home with fruit isn’t painful or a chore.

As your palate gets educated, you will find it a great pleasure. And rest assured, fruits are one of the few things that taste good because they actually are good!
