Blueberries Health Benefits

Years ago, moms weren't thinking about blueberries health benefits when they made a blueberry pie for her family. She didn't know about all the health benefits of blueberries, the calories and important nutrients, which could be found in the ordinary blueberry.

But one thing was clear. The blueberry was easily available, delicious and best of all, almost anybody who ate enough of it was able to ward off many diseases.

Blueberries health benefits

This is the reason why scientists decided to look at the blueberries health benefits, and they were extremely surprised that the humble blueberry is a powerhouse of good nutrients and antioxidants.

Can Blueberries Help Your Memory?

Your memory is going to be sharpened with a steady diet of blueberry, especially wild blueberries. Blueberries have been proven to be beneficial against Alzheimer's disease, and senile dementia. That's because blueberries helpprotect a brain from undergoing stress due to oxidation.

One of the not so apparent blueberries health benefits is that a steady diet of blueberries can also help reverse the loss of memory.

Protects Against Certain Types of Cancer

Researchers have found that one of the health benefits of blueberries include the presence of pterostilbene. This is capable of cutting down any lesions in the colon, which are precancerous, and for inhibiting breast cancer, diabetes, and LDL cholesterols.

The kaempferol in blueberries is supposed to reduce the chances of ovarian cancer.

“The more we study pterostilbene, the more we see its huge potential in the human health field,” says chemist Agnes Rimando of ARS’s Natural Products Utilization Research Laboratory in Oxford, Mississippi. Her animal studies on the compound have led to several groundbreaking discoveries.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol burst on the health scene more than a decade ago, when it was found to have cardiovascular and cancer-fighting benefits.

Studies at the time examined resveratrol’s role in an apparent phenomenon in which people in France live long lives despite diets very high in saturated fat and cholesterol. It has been theorized, though not yet proven, that red wine’s prevalence in the French diet lowers incidence of cardiovascular disease.

Another health benefit of blueberries is that it is a good source of calcium, They are extremely rich in Potassium, zinc, magnesium, iron, fiber, sodium, and vitamin C, K and A.

A body is not likely to suffer from inflammation of the digestive system, if you have blueberries regularly in your diet. It is also good for constipation as well as diarrhea because of the tannins present in it.
