Health Benefits of Pomegranate
Research has shown that the health benefits of pomegranate is due to its significantly higher levels of antioxidants than red wine or green tea.
A recent study presented at the American Urological Association annual meeting states that drinking pomegranate juice significantly extended the time it took prostate cancer markers in men to double. It has also been tested and shown to slow the growth of prostate cancer in mice.
Studies also suggest that pomegranate juice drinkers had less oxygen deficiency to the heart during exercise than non-drinkers.
In another study, researchers found that pomegranate juice showed by far the "most complete free radical scavenging activity," ranking higher than the likes of acai juice, cranberry juice and green tea.
Pomegranate juice is best known for its it heart health benefits after Israeli scientists demonstrated that the fruit juice, taken daily, prevented the thickening of arteries.
