When it comes to healthy lifestyle goals, we all struggle. It is easier to sit in front of the 42 inch plasma TV and want to change rather than put in the effort to do it. And that sort of thinking is gonna stop today, right?

So lets get moving on to a better you, starting right now.

Research shows that a high percentage of work absence is usually stress-related, caused by the overstretching of one's physical and mental ability to deal with the demands of everyday life.

Most people are discouraged because they think they cannot add another activity to their overstretched and underachieved “to do list.” The following keys to a healthy lifestyle should help you easily achieve your goals and create a better you.

Make a Plan

Someone once said, “to fail to plan, is to plan to fail.” To achieve a healthy lifestyle, you must have a plan. Write out a list of how to achieve your goals. For example, you can write, read a book after 8pm, all while sipping an antioxidant juice. This might be a form of relaxation; it can be a small consistent step towards your bigger goals.

When you have a written plan, it will help to identify when you miss a target, and you can quickly get back on track. Once you are able to achieve the easier tasks you set for yourself, the bigger ones will seem less daunting.

Be Realistic About Your Healthy Lifestyle Goals

The best laid plans are known to go awry if there is no commitment to them.

Before you embark on a healthy habit to meet your goals, ask yourself some basic questions

Find a healthy habit that you enjoy, rather than doing an activity that is the latest trend; otherwise it will be difficult to sustain your program and momentum. Make sure the activity you choose fits your schedule and budget.

Your work pattern, family, and social commitments all play a role in being able to live a healthy lifestyle. Find the best time of the day when you can steal a few minutes for yourself. Remember, taking a few small steps is better than waiting for one giant leap.

Fit for Purpose

Make sure your plan is fit for your purpose. If your intention is to alleviate stress, choose a plan that will achieve the right results. Your ideal stress buster might be a walk in the park, and a soak in the bath twice a week, rather than a hard workout in the gym.

Although the benefits of exercise cannot be overemphasized, other activities may be a better gradual approach to reach the next stage.

Make It Happen

Whether you write out your plan, reschedule your lifestyle, or move commitments around, without your full participation, the goal cannot be achieved.

Make sure you put your energy into achieving a better you. Get support from family and friends to keep you on track. You might even find someone with the same interests to join with you in your plan.

Reward yourself for every milestone! However, don't overindulge! Go for simple treats such as a movie or a good meal, to encourage you to continue with your new lifestyle pattern. We can all achieve more if we take one small step at a time.
